ACCIONA ENERGÍA SUPPLIES 100% RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY TO C&A IN PORTUGAL

ACCIONA Energía has announced today its cooperation with European fashion retailer C&A for the supply of 100% renewable energy in Portugal.

C&A will cover all the electric consumption in its shops and offices in the country with an 8,4GWh/year supply of renewable electricity delivered by ACCIONA Energía.

The source of the energy is guaranteed through the emission of 100% Renewable Guarantees of Origin certificates from the EEGO (Entidade Emissora de Garantias de Origem) platform of the Portuguese electricity group REN (Rede Elétrica Nacional), also integrated into the European Energy Certificates System, which will allow C&A to claim the use of 100% clean energy.

Thanks to the use of renewable energy, C&A will avoid the release of more than 1,500 tons of CO2 yearly. Additionally, the fashion retailer is obtaining competitive advantages, by securing electricity supply at stable prices.

With this contract, C&A advances towards achieving its ambitious 2028 Sustainability Strategy goals, recently released in its 2022 Sustainability Report.

ACCIONA Energía strengthens its position as a strategic partner for decarbonization in Portugal. This green electricity supply agreement with C&A follows other contracts with reference customers in Portugal, such as Grupo Violas, Makro, Metro de Lisboa, or Vidrala.

In addition to the commercialization of clean energy, ACCIONA Energía has 166MW of renewable generation in Portugal, including wind and solar facilities. The company’s portfolio in Portugal includes 16 wind farms, as well as one of the largest photovoltaic plants on the Iberian Peninsula, the Amareleja Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 46 MWp.
