Improving the energy efficiency of the municipality

Since 2017, ACCIONA has provided energy services for 400 municipal buildings of the Madrid Town Hall through the creation of a Municipal Energy Management System, the first of this scale undertaken in Spain. It allows for real-time monitoring and analysis of energy consumption to correct inefficiencies and detect opportunities, thereby saving costs and reducing CO2 emissions.

Thanks to ACCIONA’s Digital Energy Services Control Centre, information is analysed and immediately responds to alarms for abnormal consumption, thus improving operational performance and detecting inefficient consumption patterns.

Since the first service was started, ACCIONA now manages the energy services of 65 buildings from the Control Centre, including the Cibeles Palace, the headquarters of the Treasury and Public Administration, the Conde Duque Cultural Centre and numerous city sports centres.

A pioneer in the sector, ACCIONA’s Digital Energy Services Control Centre joins Sustainability and Innovation, thus optimising consumption, achieving lower costs and reducing CO2 emissions for its customers.

The Control Centre is able to manage consumer energy collectively to provide digital energy services of flexibility and aggregation to the market, which represents a very valuable asset for the electrical system.
